Purpleleaf Beech – Fagus sylvatica ‘Purpurea’
A cultivar of European Beech with leaves that are a coppery-purple color when young, and purple-
maroon when mature. With the heat of summer this colorful foliage often fades to greenish-purple.
The mature height is 60 to 100 feet and the tree can live for 300 and more years. The smooth gray
bark adds winter interest.
