8. Tuliptree – Liriodendron tulipifera
Tuliptree is a fast-growing shade tree suited to open areas and exhibiting golden-yellow fall color.
In spring, it develops greenish-yellow flowers shaped like tulips, from which it gets its common
name. Also known as yellow poplar, it is one of the lightest hardwoods and is used for furniture,
boxes and crates.
