Black Walnut – Juglans nigra
Black Walnut grows into a large, upright and spreading tree which is best planted in natural areas
because of the large, messy nuts it produces. It is a highly valued North American hardwood for
furniture, gun stocks and veneer. Missouri is the leading producer of black walnut nut meat,
whose distinctive flavor is found in ice cream and candies.
